(I have that song in my head now. Is it by Sugarland? I think so....)
You know that scene in Baby Mama where Kate's (Tina Fey) sister stops her kid running out the door to inspect what is on his hands? "Is this poop, or chocolate?" she asks. (She then licks his hand). "It's chocolate....!" And sends him on his merry way. Kate responds, "What if that had been poop?!?!"
Today, I had a similiar instance. And mine wasn't chocolate.
It was the end of school; the girls where writing down their homework and James was playing on his art easel. I don't remember what Clara was doing, but I was picking up toys and such from the day. As I get closer to the stairs, I notice that there are these small, brown circles on the back of each step, starting at the top of the staircase going all the way down to the basement. Now, you've probably already guessed correctly as to what those little spots were- I, however- took longer. I stop to look at them, and think, "Did James track mud in from when he was outside? Did Clara get into some chocolate and smear it on the steps as she came down?" The answers to those questions were no. I touch it (mistake), and.... yessiree, it's poop. All down my stairs. I quickly find Clara to see that her back is covered in poop from her diaper on up. She has recently mastered the skill of going down the stairs on her bottom, sliding down step by step. Today she mastered it with poop overflowing from her pants. Fan.tas.tic.
Needless to say, it was quite the ordeal the clean up. Once my baby was stripped, cleaned, and put in fresh clothes, I had the resposibility to clean up the stair mess. I offered the job to Ashleigh when she came to pick up the girls, but for some reason she declined. Armed with carpet cleaner, wipes, paper towels, Clorox Anywhere spray, and some washclothes, I went to attack that carpeted mess. It was messy, but it had to be done.
Wait, what's that you say? You want photo evidence to prove that I am not making this up?
See? I'm not lying. Now, it doesn't look that bad, but can I remind you that it is poop? Anything with poop is bad. I think the worst part was that it was just about on every step. Not just one big glob in the center of the living room or anything. Nope. Every step.
(I also have to give a shout out to my SIL who just wrote a post about diapers. Just saying, Corie, she was currently in Pampers and you see what happened. This never happened in my good ol'-trusty-off-brand-Target Up and Ups! :) Does it make you feel good that I was thinking of you when all this occured?)

I tried.
There's no silver lining here
;)
I have been so excited to read your post ever since you told me about it. I am cracking up that you actually took a picture! Little sweet precious cherubic baby darling Clara..... Too funny. Not for you at the time, I suppose, but just imagine what ammunition you have against her when she's 14!
And thank the heavenly Lord that you didn't taste it!
Aw, I feel so honored.
I'm w/ my mom, so funny that you took a pic to prove it!
I'll have to give these famous Target diapers a try.
dave couldn't even get through the post when he saw the picture. hahahahaha.
And the smell doesn't go away easily.
You should send this in to Kate and Lydia.
