well blog. here's the update:
we now have a 16 day old son! woot woot! he's still more precious then ever, even during those good 2 hour stretches at night where he decides its definetly party time, not sleep time. mom and dad, however, beg to differ. yet last night was an A+ sleep night for us. he fell asleep in time for us to watch a little bit of "Dave" (that presidential movie) before the new SNL (with a highlighted appearance by the one and only Mike Huckabee himself) and kept sleeping for a bit after that. we were very thankful. also, the rest of the night he just slept right in bed with us and when he was hungry he ate and when he was sleepy he slept. so all this long story of our past night basically means that there are a couple of happy parents living in apartment 1C today.
other milestones of his include:
- trying to suck his thumb and getting his fist to his mouth, however, he is unable to suck his thumb because his thumb is inside his fist, which is tightly clenched.
- laying on his tum and lifting his head up and subsequently turning it side to side. very advanced. we are expecting him to pass a football any day now.
- somewhat being able to calm himself down when he gets fussy. this is only somewhat though.
- we've also decided that he is, at this young age, brilliant. when reading such good reads as "Baby Cakes" or "Moo Baa La La La" he seems to know to look at the book and if you watch his eyes, you can see them dart around the page. i'm sure he's already reading...if we could just work on that whole speech thing.
- he likes james taylor, a lot. if you have a fussy james and put on some "Country Road" it's like a whole different baby.
other not so hot milestones:
- at least for dad, he's very advanced in the diaper region. meaning that 5 times out of 10 he thinks its fun to continue to have bowel movements and maybe even a little stream of pee once the old diaper has been removed and just as the new diaper was about to be placed on his bum. this equals a poopy mess all over the changing table, perhaps some wetness on the wall, and the use of three diapers (dirty one, was clean but now is dirty one, and clean one) when only two is needed. for mom however, he either has stage fright or understands that you don't do that kind of thing around a lady.
- the whole two hour up at night thing. we're workin' on it.
in other news but still related to the baby (it's gonna be like this for a while now...)
i picked up an infection which for two days put me outta commission. it was like a flu and i did not like having those fevers or chills. after some good antibiotics i'm feeling better. just if you come visit, don't expect to see a clean house. davey also has a coldish thing as well, so if you think of it, we are a fun bunch. ironically, our son who has the most immature immune system out of all of us is doing just fine.
that's about all for now. oh, and that we are out of milk and we ate dry honey nut cheerios. i'll try to have a more grownup update later. :)

I love your update! Isn't it amazing how much news one small boy can generate?
I have to agree that he does seem to be exceptionally advanced in all areas.
you made me laugh out loud. one time my brother made such a mess as an infant, my dad just took him outside and hosed him off with the garden hose. i don't know if he ever told my mom... anyways, a bit too cold outside for that in Michigan!
p.s. sorry about the previous post. i have spelling issues.
Dave is rubbing off on me with his preppiness. and yes, i think you spelled argyle right:) we should talk more often:)
Hi! I'm glad you put up a new post about James! I can't believe it has already been a week since I saw him last. Don't let him forget his auntie Corie. He is definitely very advanced and will undoubtedly be surpassing my children any day now. Yes, that's right, not just Tessa, who seems to be on the slow boat of developmental milestones, but Lily as well. He'll be reading Tolstoy or something and she'll have just conquered Little Critter. And I used to think SHE was smart... :)
Welcome to the world of not being able to come up with anything to post about other than your children! :)
Thank you for your comment on my site. :) I didn't know you had to have a wordpress account to comment? I thought you could just sign in with your e-mail. Oh well, what do I know, I have an account so how should i know?
Aww! Yay:-) He sounds so cute, and I am glad to hear that you are feeling somewhat better!
This is all sooo exciting. I can't wait until Aaron and I get the joy of a baby :) I enjoyed our talk today, and I miss you terribly! I'll be praying that you feel better. Blessings my dear friend.
